Looking for fun on a hot summer day? There are so many options, and many are affordable. Just a short drive from the cabin is Jack's Canoe & Tube Rental. Jack's offers a 3-4 hour excursion, providing you all of the equipment, plus the drive to the put-in location and a pick up to bring you back. Coast slowly down the gentle Namekagon River, known for its wildlife and natural setting. They also rent kayaks, canoes and SUP's. And when you are done, grab an ice cream at Jack's.

Looking for a chance at that Trophy Fish? There are excellent area guide services; whether you are looking for that trophy or just want to get to know your favorite lake better. Hayward Guide Service offers full day or half day trips on over 15 lakes (715)-462-3055 or

Another guide option is hayward.guideservice@haywardguides.com Specializing in the Chippewa Flowage, Randy Gulch Guide Service also guides and fishes area lakes, introducing you to some of the hottest spots around, including well-known resorts for lunch. (715) 462-9057 werfishn@centurytel.net

If that is not enough for the "fish enthusiast", check out one of the newer shops in town, the Hayward Fly Fishing Shop in downtown Hayward. Known not only for great gear, but also for some stories on the ones-that-got-away, the ones that didn't and a few pointers along the way.  Then, you have to stop at the biggest Musky, if nothing else for a selfie pick, but the museum is a vintage blast from the past.

If you are looking to moor your boat somewhere close, the Town of Gull Lake does have a public boat launch and docks on Gull Lake that are available to residents (of which, we technically are Gull Lake residents). I don't believe rentals are available there, but, if you bring your own, it's a nice day out, and there is a restaurant on the lake.

Local Area Outfitters and Rentals; many of which will drop off for an additional fee.
